Generation Y – experiencing risk differently

As a neutral and non-profit foundation, we conducted a representative study to investigate the changing perspectives and behaviour patterns of Generation Y – i.e. 18-37 year-olds – in Switzerland. Young people attach great importance to personal responsibility, the ability to adapt and learn, health and a wealth of experiences. Many of them are concerned with a conscious use of their personal resources, such as time and well-being, in order to be able to cope with the diverse challenges both today and in the future.
In a demanding and challenging work environment, this means reducing stress through sufficient recovery time and positive feedback. Those who feel good at work will be better able to cope with the demands and also perform better in the long run. On the internet, people want to get specific information and check different sources, but personal responsibility reaches its limits. Self-determination over personal data is desired, but is not perceived as a realistic goal.
Young generations in particular can provide clues to future priorities, values and societal changes. Their conscious lifestyle not only strengthens health, but also climate protection. Transparency is expected at all levels, especially with regard to the handling of information and data on the internet.
